Taste of Wilderness Tours

General Information

Explore... our most spectacular wild places

Taste of Wilderness Tours is located in the beautiful town of Grande Cache, Alberta, which is situated on the eastern slopes of the Canadian Rockies north of Jasper National Park. With the equally inspiring Willmore Wilderness Park on our doorstep we are blessed with a beautiful and pristine mountain playground ideally suited to a variety of self-propelled wilderness adventures.

Since 1994 we've been providing a variety of tours, from gentle 3-hour nature walks to rugged 7-day backpack trips, allowing people of varying fitness levels and abilities an opportunity to experience, enjoy, and learn about our spectacular and unique mountain environment.

The emphasis of our trips is on local history and culture, nature interpretation and appreciation, environmental awareness, and the basic outdoor skills which allow us to enjoy our time in the Canadian Rockies safely and with minimum disturbance.

Learn... about our natural and human history

All of our trips include guiding, food, and transportation. In addition, our overnight trips include tents, sleeping pads, stoves, cooking equipment and eating utensils.

So you won't need to rustle up a lot of equipment for your trip. And if you are having trouble with an item or two, Taste of Wilderness Tours has some basic rental equipment available.

If one of our scheduled trips do not suit your particular needs, or you have a specific idea or trip date in mind, please contact us. We'll try our best to accommodate you. We also offer special rates for clubs, groups, and seniors.

Groups are kept small, since we feel that large groups take away from the wilderness experience and are excessively damaging to fragile alpine environments.

Discover... yourself.

Reservations are required, and we recommend that they be made as early as possible to avoid disappointment. Registration deadline for scheduled trips is two weeks prior to the departure date.

You will be required to sign a waiver (recognizing that outdoor activities pose an element of risk, and limiting the liability of Taste of Wilderness Tours) when registering for your trip.
