| Taste of Wilderness is owned and operated by Terry Deamer. |
Terry has lived in the Canadian Rockies since 1970, when he moved to Grande Cache with his parents, from Ontario, at the age of twelve. His thirst for adventure soon had him exploring the surrounding area, gradually expanding his boundaries as he grew older. Soon he was exploring the Rockies in
many different ways, be it hiking, backpacking, climbing, ski touring, canoeing, or kayaking. |
More recently, he completed the local Passport to the Peaks program in its entirety... the 5th person to do so, and one of only about a dozen up to now. Terry has taken a wide variety of outdoor-oriented courses, and is certified as an ACMG Hiking and Wilderness Guide, and as an IGA Apprentice Interpretive Guide. He also holds a certificate in Wilderness Emergency Care, a rigorous advanced-level first aid course developed specifically for wilderness professionals. |
He worked in the mining industry for many years, but his heart and mind were in the mountains. After putting together a hiking brochure for the community in the early 90's, he found himself volunteering his time toward helping promote tourism to the area. He is always striving for a better balance to his life; preferably one which allows him the time and freedom to do more of what he really loves to do, such as write about, photograph, and show others the places he loves. |
